YOUTH PROGRAMS

ALL GROUP CLASSES ARE OPEN TO TEENS AND TWEENS

CRUfit places a high priority on services to teens and tweens. Fitness habits developed early on can lead to a healthier and happier life. Youths from age 10 and up are welcome to attend any CRUfit group class (no indoor classes are being run during the Pandemic). We are very proud of our contributions to the success of local youth athletes. For many years, CRUfit has run special classes for high school mountain bikers to help them prepare for their competitive season. We have partnered with several local youth rowing programs to provide in-season training and we run summer programs to help young rowers prepare for the rigors of competitive rowing.

 

FITNESS FOR TEENS & TWEENS (OUTDOORS - Montclair Parking Garage Rooftop)

Wednesdays, 4:30 to 5:45pm (second day each week to be added if interest warrants)

Instructor Andre Cole is an experienced group fitness instructor, youth coach and hip-hop dance artist. He brings big energy to fast-moving and engaging full-body training sessions that promote strength, agility and cardiovascular fitness. Please bring masks and maintain awareness of social distancing when training on CRUfit’s turf up top of the Montclair Parking Garage. 

Required Equipment: Water bottle and face covering.

 

LIVE STREAMING (VIRTUAL) YOUTH ROWING CLASS

Instructor Sebastian Cohn has been rowing on and off the water for over 12 years, initially as a college freshman walk-on member of the WPI men’s varsity crew team (followed by 3 years racing in the 1V boat), then as a club member with Lake Merritt Rowing Club, and finally as a coach with CRUfit since 2016. He has rowed marathons, a 100k piece, at the Henley Royal Regatta, and down the Canal du Midi in France. He loves to make classes fun and engaging using any and all means possible. Virtual classes include integration of multiple camera angles, workout graphs, heart rate information and more, while focusing on technique at an individual and group level. New rowers should contact Mark Sutro (marks@crufit.net) about coaching on basic rowing skills.

Required Equipment: Concept2 rowing machine. CRUfit has new machines ($75/month) and used machines ($50/month) available for rent. Contact Mark Sutro (marks@crufit.net) about rentals.

For best results, we encourage young athletes to attend regularly. We will be sending out links to the recorded version of each class to all who signed up so it will be possible to attend all classes even if participants cannot do all of them live.

 

SIGN-UP INSTRUCTIONS

1.) Create a profile for the athlete on the CRUfit Website (skip to step #3 if you already have a profile).

     a. Click on First Class Free on our Home Page (this initiates profile creation).

          i. Complete the profile info for your athlete (use athlete’s name) including the waiver.

          ii. Note: The Free Class for new customers applies to our regular group classes but not to the youth classes.

2.) Email a completed Minor Waiver (scanned) to marks@crufit.net. We are required to have a hardcopy waiver signed off by a parent on file for each minor that trains with us.

3.) Purchase classes for the program you are interested in on our PURCHASE page (see menu at top of this page).

     a. Note that Intro offers and monthly plans cannot be used for YOUTH ROWING or FITNESS FOR TEENS.

4.) Schedule your classes via our SCHEDULE page (athletes must sign up for each class they wish to attend).
