Where should I park?
STREET PARKING is easy to find before 9am. It's free before the hours of 8am and after 6pm, with variable meter pricing between those hours.
THE MONTCLAIR PARKING GARAGE is a convenient and reasonably priced option. The first 20 minutes are free and CRUfit sells discounted parking for $1 per hour (purchase validation stickers at our front desk before you leave the club). The garage is located at 6235 La Salle Ave, two short blocks from CRUfit. The automobile entrance to the garage is located at the top of La Salle. Use the pedestrian exit on the Medau Place side to walk down to CRUfit. The Garage is open: Monday - Saturday 7AM-9PM. Sunday 8:30AM-6PM (Free Parking All Day)
What shoes do I need for cycling class?
The majority of our bikes are set up for use with regular athletic shoes* or bike shoes with SPD cleats. We do have two bikes that are compatible with older-style LOOK cleats (new Look Keo 2 cleats are not compatible). When signing up for a cycling class, you'll be prompted to choose a bike and the bikes with special pedals are designated on the Cycling Theater Map. *NOTE: regular athletic shoes with harder, less-flexible, soles can be more comfortable for those with sensitive feet.
How much does CRUfit cost?
CRUfit's pricing is structured to be adaptable to our clients' diverse workout schedules and we are happy to work with you to determine what will give you the best value for your needs. Frequent visitors purchase monthly contracts to allow for a lower price per visit. Less frequent visitors can pay by the class- "pay as you go" - with no ongoing monthly commitment. In order to offer this flexibility, we use a "credits system" (see explanation below). These are the pricing options available:
- DROP-IN: A good option if your schedule is quite unpredictable and you're often not sure if you'll be taking a class until you actually walk into CRUfit.
- CREDIT PACKAGES: The more credits you buy, the cheaper it is per class. Packages do expire but as long as you average taking one class every other week, you won't lose anything. You can also share packages, so family members/significant others can draw credits from the same account.
- MONTHLY MEMBERSHIPS: Here there are two options. The LIMITED Monthly Membership is recommended for those who will be coming on average at least 3 times a week. The UNLIMITED Monthly Membership is best for those averaging 4 or more classes a week. A "month" refers to a 30 day period, starting on the date of purchase. Memberships are set up as a recurring auto-pay contract.

What do the credits mean?
CRUfit's pricing is structured to be adaptable to our clients' diverse workout schedules. We accomplish this by using a credit system. Classes are valued at 1, 2, or 3 credits. Clients buy packages of credits that are then loaded onto their accounts and the class credit value is deducted as they come in for the class. The majority of our classes are 2 credit classes. We consider 2 credits to be our standard per class price point. Our 1 credit classes are “open gym” type classes where participants can come in and do their own thing or train with others in the class. Our 3 credit classes are longer format classes (such as 90 minutes of cycling) or classes which require more setup time. The more credits you buy, the cheaper it is per class. Packages do expire but as long as you average taking 2.5 classes per month, you won't lose anything. You can also share packages, so family members/significant others can draw credits from the same account.
What is the minimum age allowed in class?
Kids age 11 and up are welcome in our group classes. In addition to attending group classes at CRUfit, young adults might be interested in one of our Youth Fitness Programs which include Fitness for Youth After School Program, Fitness for Youth Summer Camp, and Fitness for Rowing Summer Camp. Do you have locker rooms?
Both Men’s and Women’s locker rooms are equipped with lockers, restrooms, showers and dry saunas. We will have hand towels for guests while they workout, but you will need to bring full towels if you wish to shower.
Should I use a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM)? Which ones are compatible with the bikes & rowing machines at CRUfit?
If you are training at CRUfit regularly, we suggest that you consider adding heart rate monitoring to your program. A heart rate monitor helps you identify when you are getting fitter (more work getting done at the same heart rate, faster heart rate recovery, etc.) and can also help you identify when you may need additional recovery time. We sell the following heart rate monitors at CRUfit.
Wahoo's line of TICKR heart rate monitors support simultaneous ANT+ and Bluetooth communication. They are a great option for CRUfitters as they will work with our bikes (see HR on your bike console via ANT+), with Performance IQ (get HR data in your cycling stats via ANT+), with our Concept2 rowing machines (via ANT+ or Bluetooth) and with your phone app of choice (via Bluetooth). We are now selling the Wahoo TICKR and the Wahoo TICKR X.
The TICKR is a basic dual wireless model which we sell for $50. The TICKR X has some more sophisticated features including a motion sensor (track running or cycling cadence, count reps, etc.) and memory for those who want to train with a minimum number of accessories and upload their training data after their workout. We sell the TICKR X for $80.
